Width

Everything you need to weatherstrip one door with traditional spring bronze: about 17 feet of spring bronze (both sides and the head of a typical door), a short lock strip for behind the latch and strike, and solid brass nails. No 100 ft roll to buy, no hunting for the right nails.

Spring bronze is nailed to the jamb and flexes against the door when it closes, sealing drafts while you keep the original door, frame and trim. Installed right and never painted, it can last for generations.

Which width?

Choose a width slightly narrower than the thickness of your door. For a typical 1-3/4" exterior door, 1-3/8" is usually right. Not sure? Order your best guess and write "verify my order" in the order notes; we'll check it with you before it ships.

What's in the kit

  • About 17 ft of spring bronze in the width you choose
  • Short lock strip for the latch and strike area
  • Solid brass nails

Install in brief

  1. Make sure the door is aligned and latches first.
  2. Practice on a short piece.
  3. Nail one edge to the jamb about every 1"; the free edge sits close to the stop without touching it.
  4. Close the door and test. It should latch without force.
