This solid-bronze interlocking threshold hook strip, also called a J-hook, fastens to the bottom of a wood door or casement window sash. It interlocks with the threshold—also called a saddle—to seal against air, light, insects and pests.

As the old-timers say, “Nothing beats interlock.” Properly fitted, the hook strip completes the traditional interlocking threshold or saddle system with a durable metal-to-metal seal.

  • Ordering unit: 4 feet
  • Standard 4-foot units ship free

How to Order Hook Strip for Interlocking Thresholds and Saddles

This product can only be purchased in 4-foot units. Add the number of 4-foot units needed to cover all the material for your project. Then use the order comments to list the actual lengths you need.

  • Need one 32-inch length? Add one 4-foot unit. In the comments, write “1 × 32 inches.”
  • Need one 6-foot length? Add two 4-foot units. In the comments, write “1 × 6 feet.”
  • Need two 7-foot lengths and one 3-foot length? That is 17 total feet. Add five 4-foot units, then list “2 × 7 feet; 1 × 3 feet.”

If you are unsure how many 4-foot units to order, complete our printable Interlock Worksheet and send us a photo. We will calculate the quantity and help confirm your length list.

Continuous lengths up to 8 feet are available.

  • Up to 7 feet: $125 freight per order
  • Up to 8 feet: $200 freight per order

Standard 4-foot units are returnable. Longer and requested-length pieces are not.

Installing J-Hook on Doors and Casement Windows

Fasten the hook strip to the bottom of the door or casement sash with staples or ring-shank nails so it engages the interlocking threshold or saddle evenly across the opening. Accurate clearance and careful fitting are essential. To trim the material yourself, use tin snips.
