How Deep Should the Rabbet Be for an Interlocking Bronze J-Hook?
Share
In Classic Door's interlocking bronze threshold installation method, the bottom edge of the wood door is prepared with a 3/8-inch rabbet for the J-hook.
The rabbet recesses the bronze hook into the bottom of the door so it can align with the interlocking part of the threshold when the door closes.
The threshold should be fitted and marked in the opening before the door is cut. The same installation guide shows the door trimmed to sit about 1/8 inch above the interlocking part of the threshold.
