Sutherland Welles Oxidizer

Ages new wood so it takes stain like the old wood around it. When a repair or replacement piece is new wood, stain alone leaves it looking new. Oxidizer darkens and softens the grain first, so the stain absorbs evenly and the patch blends in.

Good for

• Dutchman repairs and replacement parts on old doors, sash and furniture.
• Matching new wood to aged wood before staining.

How to use it

• Dilute the concentrate following the instructions on the bottle.
• Test on scrap of the same species first; it turns most woods brown.
• Stain once the wood is dry.

Safety

• The concentrate is potassium dichromate, a hazardous chemical. Wear gloves and eye protection and read the safety sheet before use.

Common questions

Do I still need stain?
Yes. Oxidizer ages the wood; Old World stain sets the final color.
