Replace the Cylinder, Not the Entire Mortise Lock

A mortise cylinder is the part of a mortise lock that accepts the key. If the key is missing or the cylinder needs replacement, you may be able to replace only the cylinder while keeping the existing lock and trim.

Will This Fit My Lock?

This is an American-style mortise cylinder with a common Schlage C 5-pin keyway. This cylinder type is commonly used with residential mortise hardware, including hardware from Baldwin, Emtek, Rocky Mountain Hardware, Sun Valley Bronze, Classic Brass, and other designer-hardware manufacturers. Brand alone does not confirm compatibility; verify the cylinder length and cam before ordering.

Mortise lock or tubular lock? A mortise lock normally has a long rectangular faceplate on the edge of the door. A tubular or cylindrical lock normally has a much smaller latch faceplate. This cylinder is for compatible mortise locks and does not fit tubular or cylindrical locks.

How to Order

2. Cam: Compare the cam on the back of the old cylinder with the choices shown in the guide.
3. Finish: Select the finish that best matches the existing trim.
