Should I keep the original interlocking weatherstripping on my old door?
Share
If the original bronze interlocking weatherstripping is still present, do not automatically remove it. These systems are often repairable, adjustable, or replaceable one section at a time.
First check whether the real problem is door alignment, paint buildup, a bent strip, a damaged J-hook, or a threshold component that is no longer engaging correctly.
If only the door-bottom hook is damaged, read whether you can replace only the J-hook. If the threshold itself needs replacement, compare the current interlocking bronze threshold options.
